I originally intended for GoodStewardess.com to be a blog about frugal living and faithful stewardship, with some information about coupon shopping thrown in.
It has become a site about coupon shopping, and not much else, which makes me a little sad. I’m spending so much time posting grocery deals and new coupons, it doesn’t leave much time to write about other topics.
I really feel like I need to make some changes, so here’s where I plan to start:
-
Continue with coupon match-ups for Chief and Rays. Of course!
-
Eliminate coupon match-ups for other stores. I may post a summary of the “best deals around town” or something like that. Or maybe I’ll do more “show and tell” of my own shopping trips. I don’t have all that figured out yet.
-
Link to sites who specialize in other stores. I’ve found several bloggers who are experts in a single store, which makes them more likely to find plenty of unadvertised deals in addition to items from their store’s weekly ad.
-
Provide a summary list of new coupons, rather than individual posts for every new coupon released in a day. You shouldn’t be checking for new coupons more than once a day, anyway! (If a coupon is likely to be time-sensitive, I’ll post those as soon as I find them.)
-
I hope this will free up time so that I can provide information and tools to my readers that are different from what you find at other sites, rather than just posting a lot of duplicate information.
You (my readers) probably won’t notice a big difference right away, except that the number of posts in a day will be less than it has been. Which is not a bad thing, right?
The “new information and tools” that I talked about will probably not gain a whole lot of momentum until summer is over and our kids are back in school. But I’ll work on them as I’m able!
I welcome your comments and suggestions! And if you have other favorite blogs related to coupons, frugal living, homemaking, or similar topics, feel free to link to them below so I can check them out. Thanks!

Good for you! Make sure you’re keeping God and family first, everything else comes 2nd to that. I use your site mainly for the Ray’s matchups, so I’m glad you’ll be keeping that. Best wishes!
Sales and deals are very time consuming compared to the “shelf life” of the post, and get even more complicated when the coupon dates are factored in.
I spend probably 2 to 3 hours a week giving the highlights and a handful of examples from only (some) of my local stores. I’ve heard of other bloggers spending several hours working on the roundups for just one store.
I think a very good approach is to team up with other bloggers that report on you area, so each of you have just one or two stores to really focus on, and then link to each other as appropriate.
